History and architectural features
The Lipinski Federal Building spans one city block and was named in 2009 for former U.S. Representative , who served from 1983 to 2005. Built in the Modernist style, the 15-floor masonry and steel structure was originally constructed as a retail building in 1923. The federal government bought the building in 1942.
